Buying presents can be easy when you have no price limit, however Secret Santa can be difficult because you usually have a budget. If you’re budget is lower than £10 it can be hard to find good gift ideas. This is where this post hopefully helps, I’m going to be listing a few products that are available under £10 that I think would make great presents. I hope you find this post helpful.
There are many different reasons why you would do a Secret Santa. I’ve done a mass family Secret Santa as part of a late Christmas celebration for a family member who was in hospital over Christmas. I’ve also done smaller scale Secret Santa’s with friends so you don’t have to buy presents for everyone and you know you’re going to get a present back and its around equal price. (Side note: make sure the gifts you give are age appropriate, I’m just going to list a few items/places based on getting things for people around my age).
Prezzy Box has a great selection of gifts to cover all budgets. They specifically have a Secret Santa sections with gifts under £5 and gifts under £10 sections.
For this section I will be going through the Prezzy Box site and selecting a few gifts that I think would make great Secret Santa gifts.
PANORAMIC SMARTPHONE POD | £4.95
If you’re like me and struggle to take the perfect panorama shot then I imagine that this would be a great gift. You just put your phone in the stand, press the panoramic button, wind up the pod and release. The pod will then rotate 270o leaving you with a perfect and level panorama shot.
SOLAR POWER FLOWER | £4.95
Do you know someone who wants to brighten up their desk or window sill but don’t want the responsibility of watering a plant? I give you the Solar Power Flower. Simply place the flower in sunlight and the flower will do a little dance. This is a great gift, made better by the fact it doesn’t require batteries so it will never die.
INFLATABLE PERFECT CAT | £4.95
Know a cat lover who isn’t allowed to have pets? Well look no further, Inflatable Perfect Cat is here. This cat will never go out for a wander and never come back, or mess up your house. The only thing you need to worry about, is not placing it near any sharp objects.
Moving away from Prezzy Box now, if you look in high street shops as well, you’ll find a whole bunch of things you could get.
Who doesn’t love a good colouring book? And for under £5 they make a great Secret Santa gift for anyone whether they’re really creative or just want to de-stress. The colouring book pictured is from Paperchase and costs £4.99.
I love a good mug. I have so many and don’t even drink hot drinks that often as I don’t like tea or coffee. The mug pictured is super cute and Rudolph’s nose changes colour when you pour in hot water. I just think this would be a great gift for someone, and at £5 what more could you want from a mug?
I feel like these days less and less people are actually printing out their photos and displaying them, either in frames or in a photo album. If I could afford it, I’d print off all of my photographs and put them in a scrapbook or memory box because you never know how long your digital copies will last. You could so easily delete them by accident. The frame pictured is a star shaped, snow globe style frame. You simply put your picture in and you can shake it and have tiny little stars falling over your picture. This star frame from Paperchase is only £5.
Okay hands up, who’s been shopping, forgotten to take their own bags and ended up having to pay 5p for each bag you use? I certainly have and when you do shopping in numerous different shops those 5p’s add up. Buying someone a reusable bag prevents them from having to pay the 5p bag fee every time they go shopping. You can buy these kind of bags in lots of different shops; Primark, Accessorise, Paperchase and many more. I like the bag pictured as I appreciate the pun, carry a bag v carrier bag. Also at £3.50 this is a great gift for under £5. You could even buy a small extra something and put it in the bag for the person.
If you know someone who loves stationery as much as I do, then you’re in luck. I love shopping in The Works because everything is so affordable and they always have nice designs on notebooks, diaries etc. The diaries pictured are only £2 from The Works which I think is a bargain. I even bought myself the ‘A Year From Now…’ diary because I loved the design so much.
Having a slightly higher budget means that you can buy slightly ‘better’ presents instead of smaller items. Below are some of the products I found under £10 that I think would make great gifts.
SELF STIRRING MUG | £9.95
If you know a busy person who doesn’t have time to stir their drinks before leaving for work then this is the perfect gift. I’ve seen them around for absolutely ages and they don’t show any signs or disappearing anytime soon. I appreciate the novelty of them and the fact that you can do something else with your time whilst you would have been stood stirring. Just don’t fill it too high or you might end up spilling it.
PROCRASTINATOR MOUSEPAD DOODLER | £8.95
We’re all guilty of procrastinating when we’re supposed to be working so why not have a doodle pad for next to your computer. I feel like this would be perfect as it has different activities on it.
INSTANT AIR HOCKEY | £9.95
Who doesn’t love playing air hockey at the arcade? If only you could have one in your own house. Well this just may be the solution. Transform any table into an air hockey table. At only £9.95 I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t love this!
Another awesome online shop I found some great presents on was I Want One Of Those (IWOOT).
PLUG AND PLAY RETRO TV GAMES | £8.49
I’d say this is a great buy for any retro gamers or even just gamers in general. If you remember old style games such as Pong then you should highly consider getting one/asking for one. It has 200 retro games on the controller, all you have to do is plug it into your TV. How amazing is this?!
SOLAR FAIRY JARS (SET OF 2) | £8.99
These are perfect for anyone who loves fairy lights and wants to add a bit of coloured light into their homes. The lights are solar powered and each full ‘charge’ equals 6 hours of light.
SMARTPHONE PROJECTOR | £9.99
Turn your bedroom wall into a cinema with this incredible projector. Simply put your phone in the projector box, sit back and relax. This gift would be perfect for someone who either loves going to the cinema, someone who loves watching films, someone who has lots of sleepovers or even just someone who wants to watch a film or TV show projected onto a wall. You could build a blanket fort and snuggle up in there whilst watching your favourite show/film. I honestly can’t think of a better present.
SELFIE LIGHT | £9.99
Perfect for anyone who loves taking selfies or regular pictures. If you’ve ever tried taking a picture in low light you’ll know the results aren’t great. This phone ring light is perfect for instantly getting light on the object you want to take a picture of. It easily clips onto your phone and means you can take photographs whatever the light situation.
Well that list was longer than I had planned, once I started looking I just couldn’t stop. I hope you find this post helpful and that it gives you some ideas for gifts. There are loads more products on the stores websites so they’re definitely worth checking out.
